Mary Anderson is an experienced commercial property specialist who, prior to joining DJB, practised at firms including Mishcon de Reya, Shoosmiths and Reed Smith LLP. Mary combines strong technical knowledge with considerable transactional expertise and a thoroughly commercial approach.  She is also an expert in property finance and banking. She has regularly featured as “Leader” in her field in the Legal 500 and in Chambers and Partners, which ranked her as  Band 1 for Banking in the Midlands for many years.  During her career, Mary has acted for a number of high street Banks, commercial and residential developers, investors, high net worth individuals, project financiers, SMEs and SIPPS.  She has a particular emphasis in relation to health care and related sectors, and also the leisure industry.

Highlights include advising:

Banks including Lloyds Bank PLC, Svenska Handelsbanken, Clydesdale Bank PLC, RBS/Natwest Bank of Scotland, Bank of Ireland and Allied Irish Bank, advising on a range of development and investment transactions.

Clydesdale Bank on the original financing of The Ricoh Arena in Coventry including all property and construction related aspects.

A law firm on the relocation of their head office.  This involved coinciding the timing of three lease terminations on existing premises.

The Rank Organisation in connection with their portfolio comprising hotels, marina developments, leisure parks, amusement centres and motorway service areas.

A banking group on the refinancing of loans of £63m to two offshore companies over all of their trading assets.

A bank regarding a loan to a Plc on a multi-let property in Birmingham with a complicated LLP structure.

Gallagher Estates Limited on their acquisition of a Retail Park in Coventry, its subsequent development (including all construction documentation) and then the letting of 20 units to retail brands.

Dominos Pizzas on their rapid expansion of units (encompassing new developments) in all parts of the country.
