Career

Nicola is an Agricultural Specialist able to support clients with sales and purchases of farms and rural estates, farm business tenancy agreements and advice on tenancies protected by the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986.

She has gained quality experience at firms with solid agricultural property law calibre over a period of more than 15 years.  She has practised in both full time and consultancy solicitor roles as well as leading modules teaching land law at BSc and MSc level and undertaking senior editorial work in the Agriculture and Rural Land team at Practical Law.

Nicola is also recently been granted Fellowship of the Agricultural Law Association (ALA).

Nicola is passionate about the agricultural industry.  She has run local group meetings for the Agricultural Law Association members in Oxfordshire and has sat as the Secretary of the Oxfordshire Committee branch of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution since 2009.

At senior level, in full time practice Nicola was appointed to head the Oxford branch of the Agriculture and Rural Group at what was then Blake Lapthorn.  She developed an inter-office working ethos and introduced Oxfordshire clients to the wider agricultural team working out of Southampton.  In consultancy roles she has supported Agricultural departments at firms including Burges Salmon, undertaking work for The Crown Estate.

In her foundational years of practice, she was featured in a “Hot 30” article for The Lawyer, being noted as “one to watch”.  She placed third in The Lawyer Awards that same year in the Assistant Solicitor of the Year category, being described as “a force of nature”.

During full time practice Chambers & Partners listed her as an Associate to watch/Notable Practitioner and client comments included “approachable and a pleasure to work with”.
