Career

Neil specialises in construction law, major projects and infrastructure, and procurement law. Prior to joining DJB, Neil was a Partner at a large City law firm and a Consultant to a number of public and private sector organisations.  Before qualifying as a solicitor, Neil was a senior engineer and he is able to apply the technical knowledge he gained from this to negotiations and project work. Neil has an excellent track record of success in delivering complex infrastructure projects including major town centre regenerations for a number of London Boroughs.

Highlights include advising:

Rolls-Royce PLC on the £985million divestment of its global gas turbine business to Siemens AG.​

A local authority on the construction of new units as part of an £80million retail park acquisition.

Highways England on the construction of a new depot.

Liverpool City Council on the procurement of a twin lot strategic housing Public Private Partnership (PPP) project dealing with new build homes and bringing empty homes back into use.

A well-known facilities management company on various legal issues including major projects, infrastructure, public private partnership (PPP), service contracts, construction contracts, EU public procurement and outsourcing advice.

A private sector developer on a major energy centre project. This required an EPC contract and a corresponding operating contract with a complex works contract. The capital value of the works package was £25 million.
