Career

Rachael has a background in immigration public law including running claims for unlawful detention and larger policy challenges to Home Office detention policies. She also has extensive experience in assisting individuals in their asylum applications and subsequent appeals and more recently in applications to revoke deportation orders. She has a predominantly legal aid caseload and is an accredited senior caseworker at Level 2.

She has previously volunteered for a Pro-bono immigration project assisting individuals across London with immigration advice and preparing their applications for exceptional funding with the Legal Aid Agency. She has also volunteered in the Calais jungle, assisting unaccompanied minors with their applications to be transferred to the UK under the Dubs Amendment. She enjoys helping to integrate refugees and asylum seekers through sport and has helped to organise cricket tournaments for Afghan minors and charity football tournaments in conjunction with a number of charities in South London.

Education

Rachael graduated from UCL with a degree in Latin American Studies in 2015 during which she worked and studied in Barcelona and Brazil. She completed her GDL at City University and qualified as a solicitor in June 2019.
