Michael has extensive experience representing individuals, families, charities, corporate trustees, private professional fiduciaries and creditors in litigation involving complex trusts and estates. Michael’s diverse practice includes will and trust contests, accounting disputes, breach of duty actions, elder abuse and conservatorship disputes, document interpretation matters, and other contested probate and fiduciary-related matters.

Michael also has experience in business and commercial litigation, including contract, real estate, copyright, Lanham Act, trade secret, and unfair competition matters.

In addition to litigation and trial work, his practice includes risk assessment and counseling, alternative dispute resolution, and administrative proceedings. Michael frequently writes and speaks on trust and estate litigation topics and is active in bar leadership and committee work.

The team is co-led by William Kambas, who splits his time between the New Haven, Greenwich, and New York offices, California and Texas-based Michael Brophy, and Jason Dinwoodie, who sits in the New Haven office. Kambas concentrates his practice on international tax planning for multi-national and multi-state personal, active business and investment activities with a particular emphasis on tax structuring and choice of business entity for US and non-US business owners and investors. Michelle Graham, who is based in San Diego, currently counsels several of Mexico’s wealthiest families in tax structuring and compliance as well as advising on sophisticated planning issues for family businesses, including structuring and implementing intra-family sales, buy-sell agreements and family business succession planning. David Stein, who sits in the New Haven, New York, and San Francisco offices, routinely advises US and non-US single-family offices, fund managers, and young entrepreneurs on cross-border restate planning and income tax advice. Also in San Francisco, Marsha Dungog supports with cross-border tax planning and tax compliance for HNW individuals, families, founders, executives and entrepreneurs. Los Angeles-based Paul Sczudlo concentrates his practice on global planning matters, including cross-border and entertainment tax planning. Alistair Christopher, who is located in New Haven, specializes in international and domestic tax and estate planning.
