Career

Following her graduation, Laura took on the role of a Paralegal in the Private Client department of another regional firm, before being offered a two year training contract at the same firm, which was focused in Private Client Law.

Laura completed her legal practice course at the University of Law, Bloomsbury, achieving a Distinction, alongside her training contract and qualified as a Solicitor in 2016. Laura remained at the same firm for a further five years developing her skills and expertise as a Private Client solicitor.

Laura joined Pinney Talfourd as a Private Client Associate in 2022. With over ten years’ of experience specialising in Private Client matters, Laura is able to provide expert and clear legal advice to individuals, families and business owners on matters including the preparation of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Trusts and Inheritance Tax planning.

Laura also has a breadth of knowledge and expertise in the Administration of Estates. She regularly acts for executors of high value and complex estates and can also advise on Intestacy Administration (where no will was left by the deceased) and Deeds of Variation (where a beneficiary would prefer to re-direct their inheritance to another person, perhaps as part of their own Inheritance Tax planning).

Memberships

Laura is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), having competed her STEP Diploma in 2020, and is therefore recognised as an expert in her field of work.

Education

Laura Hotten studied law at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, and graduated with an upper second class degree in 2012. Laura completed her legal practice course at the University of Law, Bloomsbury, achieving a Distinction.

Personal

In her spare time, Laura enjoys spending time with her family, baking and keeping active.
