Sharon joined Lime’s London office in May 2021, and is a specialist in both clinical negligence and personal injury.
She handles a wide variety of cases, but has extensive experience in supporting people who have faced life-changing circumstances due to errors made by healthcare professionals.
She has particular expertise in cerebral palsy and erbs palsy claims arising out of perinatal and neo-natal negligence, misdiagnosis of cancer claims, cases relating to the failure to diagnose meningitis as well as orthopaedic claims.
Sharon has represented many families in hearings and inquests, having expertise with regards to the impact of the Human Rights Act with regards to clinical negligence cases.
She is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and is a Solicitor Advocate, having higher rights of audience in all civil matters. Sharon is also a Deputy District Judge for civil matters and Court of Protection. She provides accredited CPD seminars and training via MBL for lawyers on clinical negligence related topics.
Notable workSharon has acted for 30 patients and their families against a local hospital, and surgeons relating to negligent treatment which led to catastrophic injury and death. A subsequent investigation revealed serious failings in governance and management systems at the Trust involved, and serious failings by the surgeons also. Poor surgical standards were uncovered, as were issues such as the failure to obtain consent from patients for treatment, and even the failure of the Trust to investigate complaints raised by the hospital’s own whistle blowers.
Significant damages settlements Sharon has secured include £4.8m for a cerebral palsy client, £3.8m for a father of three children who sustained tetraplegia, a £2.5m lump sum plus £120,000 rising to £150,000 per year for life for a brain injury client and £1.5 million for a client who sustained a below knee amputation. Sharon also achieved a settlement of £1.6m for failed hip replacement surgery.
She has also been involved in group action litigation involving Gulf War syndrome, Myodil myelogram, PPI breast implant and DePuy hip prostheses.
