Catastrophic injury / Major Trauma - Head of Catastrophic Injury

Position

Ben is a solicitor and partner at Serious Injury Law Ltd. He has been responsible for many for the firm’s most complex and high value cases and has represented numerous adults and children in cases involving, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, cerebral palsy, other serious injuries and fatal accidents. Ben’s focus is always rehabilitation and support for his clients together with ensuring they achieve the best possible outcome in their claim. He regularly concludes multi-million pound settlements on behalf of his clients, usually involving a lump sum of damages combined with periodic payments. Many of his cases involve pedestrians (often children), being struck by vehicles leading to catastrophic injuries, but he has also acted in many clinical negligence cases including nursing negligence; mismanaged delivery leading to cerebral palsy; neonatal hypoglycaemia and negligently performed spinal surgery, leading to paralysis. Ben also receives instructions in cases where a previous serious injury claim has been under-settled by the client’s former solicitors. He also acts in criminal injuries compensation claims – including the successful appeal of a previous award resulting in a maximum award available under the scheme.

Career

Trained at Serious Law and qualified in 2003. Partner in 2010. He leads Serious Injury Law Ltd’s relationship with various Major Trauma Partnerships at various NHS Trusts, to provide expert legal advice to individuals who have suffered major trauma.

Ben was invited to join the Forum of Complex Injury Solicitors in 2021.
