Ashley Bowes

Ashley Bowes is a barrister specialising in all aspects of planning, property, licensing and local government law. He is ranked as a leading practitioner by Chambers & Partners, the Legal 500 and by ‘Planning’ magazine. Ashley has experience of acting for developers and planning authorities at public inquiries, and has acted for both claimants and defendants at all stages of planning litigation, including to the Supreme Court. He was shortlisted by Chambers & Partners as Environment/Planning Junior of the Year 2018 and is a member of the Attorney General’s C Panel of Junior Counsel to the Crown, in which capacity he represents the UK Government in his areas of specialism. Ashley is also the General Editor of Sweet & Maxwell’s Journal of Planning & Environment Law and the author of Oxford University Press’ A Practical Approach to Planning Law, as well as a contributor to Butterworths’ Planning Law Service and to the Routledge Handbook of Comparative Planning Law. In 2019, Ashley was co-opted to the Planning & Environment Bar Association Committee.

Edmund Robb

Edmund Robb is a barrister and co-founder of Prospect Law. He heads up the firm’s Dispute Resolution practice. He was educated at Oxford University, was awarded a Prince of Wales Scholarship from Gray’s Inn and was a barrister at chambers in London where he developed a specialised practice covering the environmental, planning and public law fields at Public Inquiries and at all levels in the Courts. Edmund’s case work has been reported widely, and he has been named as a Legal Expert in his field since 2006. Edmund has particular expertise advising corporate, local authority and private clients on energy, infrastructure and other development projects and in High Court judicial review and declaratory relief proceedings.

Moray Hughes is a highly experienced litigator and dispute resolution lawyer who was admitted as a Solicitor in England & Wales in 1980 following two years spent as a trainee at Norton Rose. Moray deals with commercial and contractual disputes of a domestic and cross-border and multi-jurisdictional nature, and has practiced in the City of London for many years at a number of leading firms including Hill Dickinson and Simmons & Simmons, as well as in Hong Kong and in Australia where he was admitted as a Solicitor in New South Wales in 1984. In addition to general commercial and contractual disputes, Moray has very considerable experience in a number of specialised areas of contentious law such as shipping, insurance and trade as well as energy, commodities, finance, and product liability. Moray also has experience in dealing with environmental issues including nuisance, nature conservation, environmental insurance and marine pollution. Moray Hughes has conducted numerous cases through every level of the English court system, including judicial reviews, as well as in arbitration and through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and mediation.

Stefan Schmitz

Dr. Stefan Schmitz focuses his work exclusively on energy worldwide. Dual qualified in England and Germany and originally a project finance lawyer, Stefan has been active in the renewable energy sector for over 10 years and has thus been involved since the early stages of that market, starting with on-shore wind projects in Germany. Stefan advises developers, investors, banks, manufacturers and governments on all aspects of renewable energy. In his practice, Stefan is or has been involved in renewable energy projects in Europe, the U.S., Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
