Career

David qualified in 2005 with a large regional firm in the south east of England before moving to a West End boutique practice in 2008. In 2010 he moved to a mid-sized firm in Central London where he was a senior solicitor and the head of the family department.

He joined Burgess Mee in 2015 as a senior associate and was made Legal Director in January 2018 and Partner in April 2019.

David deals with all types of family law work including matrimonial finance (which often involves substantial assets or has an overseas element or trust interests) and provision for unmarried parents. His case load also involves pre-and post-nuptial agreements for individuals from all walks of life with a focus on sports personalities and their families.

David also has experience of and a keen interest in complex private children matters with a keen interest in domestic and international relocation (both resisting applications and making them).

He has a burgeoning practice involving property disputes upon the end of cohabiting relationships and an interest in cases involving allegations of controlling and coercive behaviour against another party (both in respect of the financial aspect of a separation and child arrangements). As part of that work, David is also able to refer clients to a wide network of third-party experts to work with clients and help them begin to move on with their lives.

David trained in collaborative law in 2014 and as a mediator in 2015. He is a member of the Family Solutions Collaborative POD in Central London. He is also He also sits on Resolution’s Innovation Committee. He also volunteers at the Peckham Citizens Advice Bureau.
