An immigration expert with  two decades of experience of working in senior positions in some of the top-ranking immigration firms in the UK, as well as writing about UK immigration law developments for Lexis, Ben Maitland joined Vanessa Ganguin Immigration Law in October 2022.

He has extensive experience and a wealth of immigration knowledge in a wide variety of both business and private immigration matters allowing him to successfully navigate the UK’s ever-changing immigration system offering the full-spectrum of immigration solutions for his clients.

Ben regularly advises on Skilled Worker and Global Business Mobility routes as well as the Graduate, Scale-up,Innovator Founder and High Potential Individual routes as well as Entrepreneur extensions.

Ben has also worked on the new Global Business Mobility – UK Expansion Worker sponsor licence for businesses establishing a presence in the UK, regarding which he had drafted the Practice Note on at Lexis.

Ben is one of only a dozen expert immigration lawyers on the Lexis Nexis Consulting Editorial Board for immigration law.

Ben’s illustrious legal career has included many Global Talent visas as well as providing High Net Worth individuals tactical advice on how to obtain Indefinite Leave to Remain and British citizenship, especially in complex cases where applicants are at risk of failing to meet all the required criteria.

Both Ben Maitland and Philip Trott who he joins at the firm led one of the first nationality cases heard under the Special Immigration Appeals Commission.

As well as an encyclopaedic knowledge of point-based work immigration routes and sponsorship matters, Ben brings a wealth of experience of conducting Human Rights Article 8 applications, spouse/partner applications and Immigration Appeals, Administrative review and Judicial reviews.

Ben regularly writes articles, trains and presents on all aspects of immigration law too.
