Rita Gupta is Co-founder and Managing Director of family law firm LGFL Ltd, serving family law for clients in the Reading and Thames Valley area, across the UK and for international clients involved in UK divorce cases.

Alongside fellow Director Anne Leiper, Rita has grown LGFL into a highly respected boutique family law firm covering all areas of Family Law. Rita has considerable expertise and experience in dealing with complex financial settlements and always ensures that the interests of minor children are her top priority. Rita is also to be seen and read on social media, in articles for lifestyle magazines, in niche podcasts, and in her Law Society blogs. Rita also writes engaging an informative articles on contemporary family law issues for the LGFL website.. She has also presented videos for trainee lawyers and paralegals online via MBL webinars and on TikTok.

Career

After graduating, Rita trained with IBB solicitors, a large regional practice where she gained a keen interest in Family Law. On qualification, she moved to Pinto Potts solicitors, first meeting and working with Anne Leiper in the Family Law department. Rita quickly developed an expertise in children law and in the areas of domestic violence resolution. Rita then joined Goughs where she specialised in complex children’s cases, becoming a member of the Law Society’s Children panel.

In 2008, she collaborated with Anne Leiper again to jointly form the practice of LGFL LLP (now LGFL Ltd). 15 years on, with fellow Director Anne Leiper, Rita has built up a forward-thinking, dynamic family law firms in southern England.

Rita is a member of the Law Society’s Family Law panel and a member of Resolution. She is passionate about nurturing new legal talent, and heads up the LGFL trainee programme, with two new trainees and a paralegal joining the team in 2023.

Rita was named Family Law Solicitor of the Year in the Lawyer Monthly Legal Awards 2017, and was a finalist in the 2017 Hampshire Venus Awards for Professional of the Year. She was also a Legal 500 UK Recommended Lawyer from 2020 onwards.

Rita read law at the London School of Economics and Political Science, then returned to her home town to complete her professional training at the Nottingham Law School.
