Position

Sam is the managing partner of Carey Olsen's Cayman Islands office, and the head of its dispute resolution and insolvency and restructuring practice.

He has over 20 years' experience litigating high value commercial disputes with a primary focus on the financial services sector.

Sam has particular expertise in the fields of:

shareholder disputes; merger appraisal litigation; insolvency and restructuring; and contentious employment matters

Career

Sam graduated from Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Art History).

He was first admitted as solicitor and barrister in New Zealand Bar in 1996 (non-practising), and has been practising as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands since 2006.

Sam is a former Director of the Recovery and Insolvency Specialists Association of Cayman and is a current member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and of INSOL International. He is also is a member of the Users Committee for the Financial Services Division of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands as the representative of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners' Association.
