Position

Victoria is counsel in Carey Olsen's Trusts and Private Wealth group. She has a broad non-contentious and semi-contentious trust practice. Victoria regularly writes articles for trust industry journals and other publications and speaks at conferences and seminars on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious trust law and private client matters generally.

Victoria is involved in all aspects of non-contentious trust and fiduciary work, including advising on new and complex trust structures, drafting trust and ancillary instruments and advising trustees in connection with the ongoing administration of trusts under their care. Victoria regularly advises in connection with employee benefit trusts, pension trusts and other similar structures as well as private family trusts, charitable trusts, non-charitable purpose trusts and foundations, acting for and advising institutional trustees in Jersey and elsewhere and also high net worth private clients and family offices.

In addition, Victoria has dealt with numerous applications to the Royal Court of Jersey. She is regularly involved in acting for both trustees and beneficiaries in all types of trust proceedings, including applications by trustees for directions from the Royal Court, including in the context of beneficiaries who are involved in divorce proceedings before foreign courts, or for the blessing by the Royal Court of particularly momentous or controversial decisions and applications for the variation or rectification of trust instruments and ancillary documents. Victoria has had conduct of several ground-breaking and high profile cases before the Royal Court involving the setting aside of transactions on the ground of mistake, Hastings Bass applications and applications to the Royal Court by trustees who had been invalidly appointed.

Career

Victoria qualified as an English solicitor in 1993 and practised for three years in the UK before moving to Jersey in 1996. Prior to joining the Fiduciary Law Group of Carey Olsen as a senior associate in 2007, Victoria was a senior associate in the litigation group of another large Jersey law firm.
