Amanda has specialised in Family Law for the majority of my career and she is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland in Family Law, Child Law and Family Mediation. Her passion lies in guiding clients through difficult and stressful situations, helping them transition towards a more positive future. Recognizing that not all cases are straightforward, Amanda strives to enable clients to choose the most appropriate process for their unique circumstances. When court involvement is necessary, she aims to conduct proceedings efficiently and with sound judgment, always mindful of the financial and emotional costs involved.
Amanda’s practice is diverse and wide-ranging. She has extensive experience in handling complex high-value financial provision cases in both the Court of Session and Sheriff Courts. Additionally, she takes great pride in managing children’s cases, including those involving relocation, residence, and contact disputes.
In 2016, Amanda launched Harper Macleod’s Modern Families Initiative, designed to assist clients in creating families through adoption, donor conception, or surrogacy. The nuances of parental rights and the complexity of related legislation can be daunting. As a knowledgeable, experienced, and supportive advisor, Amanda enjoys assisting clients in navigating the intricacies of child law and fertility law as smoothly as possible.
Amanda is regularly invited to speak at professional conferences and frequently contributes to professional publications, including Green’s Family Law Bulletin and the Journal of the Law Society of Scotland.
