Career
Matthew is Counsel in the Planning team and advises on all aspects of planning, highways and public law.
He has advised a wide range of clients, including developers involved in large scale housing and regeneration projects and planning and highways agreements for both private and public sector clients. Matthew also has experience in Court matters, successfully acting in a number of high profile judicial review proceedings.
Matthew is experienced in planning policy, in particular advising on the Community Infrastructure Levy, and the formulation/adoption of development plans and supplementary planning documents.
He has also advised on the application of the Freedom of Information rules in relation to planning applications, particularly around issues of viability.
Matthew is ranked as a ‘Rising Star’ in the 2023 edition of The Legal 500.
Matthew trained, qualified, and spent four years at Denton Wilde Sapte, before most recently spending another four years as part of the London Borough of Hackney’s Planning, Highways and Public Law team. Matthew joined Forsters in July 2015.
