Career

Wendell has practiced law in Bermuda for over 40 years and has founded and managed some of Bermuda’s leading law firms. Before joining WQ, Wendell was the Managing Principal of HCS Law Ltd. 

Wendell’s principal areas of practice involve private client representation on various corporate and commercial, immigration and real property matters.  Wendell’s local clients have included a number of Bermuda’s largest hotels, trading operations and property development companies and his international clients include a number of global businesses and individuals with ties to Bermuda.  Wendell acts generally for Roust Trading Ltd., the largest entrepreneurial business in Russia, principally in the vodka and spirits business but also with operations in the banking and insurance industries.

Wendell has significant Government and public service experience having served as a Senator and Chairman of many of Government’s advisory boards.  Wendell has chaired the Government appointed Gaming Task Force, the Defence Board, the Bermuda Regiment Promotions Board and the Permanent Arbitration Tribunal and served as Deputy Chairman of the Bermuda Hospitals Board for five years.  Wendell is the author of numerous articles on Bermuda law with an emphasis on immigration law as well as on Bermuda’s history and political developments.

Memberships

Wendell was called to the Bar in England in 1975, the Bar in Bermuda in 1976 and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.  Wendell is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators with a specialty in mediation.

Education

Wendell received his LL.B. (Hons.) from Bristol University, England in 1974.
