Lamego is partner and head of Azevedo Sette Advogados’ Environmental and Mining practices. He draws upon more than 18 years’ experience advising clients in complex transactions involving Environmental and Mining matters as environmental permits, legal auditing, compliance, due diligence and litigation in environmental matters, defense of clients' interests in civil investigation and negotiations with public prosecutor office.

Partner was professor of Licensing and Environmental Liability on the LLM Course in Corporate Law at IBMEC, Centro Universitário UNA and Faculdade Milton Campos. Before joining Azevedo Sette, he was a head of Environmental group (2008–2016), and a senior associate in the same legal practice (2005–2008) in Brazil’s boutique law firms.

Lamego is member of the Environmental Committee of Brazilian Bar Association and founding member of UBAA (Brazilian Union of Environmental Lawyers). He is a former member of the State Board of Environmental Policy, and a former member of the Sanitary Board of Appeals of Belo Horizonte Municipality.

Master of Laws in International Environmental Law from The George Washington University – Law School, Washington/DC (LL.M., 2015). LL.B. from Milton Campos Law School, and was admitted to practice in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 2002. Leonardo has specialization in Mining Law at the same institution. He is specialized in Civil Law and Procedural Law at Fundação Escola Superior do Ministério Público – FESMP (2003).

He is recommended in Energy and Natural Resources: Mining, Regulation, Environment and Mining & Metals practices by Chambers Global and Latin America, Latin Lawyer 250, Leaders League, and The Legal 500 guide. In Best Lawyers is considered as top listed in Mining Law in Belo Horizonte/MG. In Análise Advocacia, he is listed as one of the most admired lawyers in Environment Law and reference in Minas Gerais state (gold medal).
