Career

Louie is the firmwide Department Chair of the Energy Litigation Practice at Baker Botts L.L.P. Louie leads energy disputes and complex business disputes for clients in the oil and gas, renewables, power, manufacturing, and technology
sectors.

In the energy industry, Louie works closely with investors, developers, manufacturers, operators, service companies, transporters, marketers, and refiners across the U.S. on operations advice and disputes across all energy sectors. Louie has handled disputes related to the energy supply chain and force majeure, leases and power agreements, title, royalty obligations, surface disputes, environmental issues, joint ventures and partnerships, midstream agreements, indemnity, and insurance recovery. During Louie’s career, he has been seconded at two publicly-traded oil and gas exploration companies handling litigation and compliance work. Before joining the Baler Botts, Louie served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jay C. Zainey of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
