Career

Hopkins Guy has extensive expertise in patent, trade secrets and commercial contract litigation involving all areas of Web-based telecommunications, electronics and computer technologies. He provides intellectual property counsel to technology companies from start-up to mature companies, particularly in clean-tech, hydrogen and solar technologies. Mr. Guy's patent and trade secrets litigation experience has involved technologies in Web-based payment systems, social networking, wireless and satellite communication equipment and routing, semiconductor processing, packaging and equipment, microprocessors, power semiconductor devices, flash memory technology and solar technologies. Mr. Guy’s representations have included DISH, Toshiba, Apple, Applied Materials, Intel, Cisco, eBay, PayPal, BrightEdge and Cambium.

Mr. Guy was the recipient of the 2003 CLAY Award in Intellectual Property for his work on the Cisco v. Huawei case, a case that continues to be relevant today. Mr. Guy also represented Facebook in its defense against the ConnectU and the Winklevoss twins which subsequently became the subject of the movie The Social Network.

Mr. Guy is an avid skier, hiker, mountain biker and sailor. He spends time in the mountains of California and Colorado and on his farm in Virginia.
