Career

Derek Young represents clients in state and local tax matters throughout the United States. Derek represents clients in all phases of tax and unclaimed property controversies, from audit and administrative proceedings through trial and appeals. He also provides state and local tax planning and advisory services, and assists clients in negotiating state and local economic incentives.

Derek regularly writes and speaks on state and local tax and unclaimed property issues. His published work on aggressive state escheat statutes and audit methods was recently cited by the Michigan Legislature in an analysis of unclaimed property legislation.
