Career

Marcela Trigo has 20 years of experience in complex IP and Technology litigation. She joined the Firm in 2014 as a partner in the group of Intellectual Property and Information Technology and Communications, acting with focus on litigation and strategic advisory. Marcela has extensive experience in litigation involving patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, protection of confidential and exclusivity data, unfair competition and regulatory compliance, especially in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and TMT (Technology, Media and Telecommunications). Marcela also advises on cutting edge technology regulation issues, such as artificial intelligence, data protection, privacy, content and digital commerce, and acts on some of the most relevant cases currently pending before Brazil’s Superior Court of Justice and Supreme Court regarding these issues. She is currently Co-Head of the Life Sciences and Healthcare Industry Group and Head of the TMT Industry Group. Marcela’s previous experience includes working as a foreign attorney at Finnegan in Washington D.C., and serving as a clerk to Judge Randall Rader at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Washington, D.C. She is currently Head of the Life Sciences Industry Group and Healthcare. Marcela has extensive experience in legal disputes involving patents, industrial secrecy, protection of confidential data, data package exclusivity (DPE), unfair competition and regulatory compliance, especially in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and telecommunications areas.

She graduated from Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro with a degree in Law and from The George Washington University Law School with an LLM in Patent Law, and also holds a master’s degree in Civil Procedural Law  from Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro.
