Career

Clare Montgomery joined the Firm in 1994 after working at a law firm in London from 1992 to 1994. For more than 25 years, she has advised important national clients on corporate reorganization matters.

Clare has led the Companies, Corporate Restructuring and Foreign Investment Group since 2007 and was named a partner in 2019.

She has been a member of the board of directors of the British Colombian Chamber for four years and has been an external advisor to the Board of Directors of the British Embassy since 2018. She participated in the constitution of Women in Connection in Colombia - an association of women leaders that, from the diversity of roles of its members, seeks to transcend the empowerment of women and their role in the business sector, where she is an active member and also member of the Legal Committee of the Association.

She has participated in the discussion groups of the Superintendency of Companies on issues related to the revision of some chapters of the commercial code, specifically issues of transparency and disclosure of information from business groups and registry of last beneficiaries - a responsibility of shareholders, among others. She is a member of the Baker & McKenzie Management Committee and the firm's Pro Bono partner since 2021. She has been a professor of the postgraduate course in International Business Law at the Universidad Externado in Bogotá since 2005.

Clare focuses her practice on corporate law, mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations, foreign exchange law, free trade zones and foreign investment. She participates in complex cross-border restructuring projects, mergers and acquisitions of multinational and local companies in Colombia, shareholder agreements, as well as foreign exchange law and free trade zones.
