Position

Michelle Porter-Wright is a partner and head of Baker McKenzie's Dispute Resolution practice group based in Johannesburg. Michelle is qualified to practice in South Africa, and England and Wales.

Michelle is ranked by all major directories for her work in South Africa's construction sector, including Legal 500, Chambers, Who's Who Legal (WWL), and Best Lawyers. She is Lexology’s 2024 Client Choice award recipient for Construction in South Africa, Acquisition International’s 2024 Contract Administration & Dispute Resolution Advisor of the Year for South Africa, and she is also recognised as a Future Leader in arbitration in South Africa by WWL.

Career

Michelle advises owners, contractors and consultants in the administration of contracts and the resolution of disputes on major infrastructure projects, both through adjudication and arbitration. Michelle has worked on some of the world’s largest projects and is widely recognized as a leader in her field. She is published in several peer reviewed academic journals, including the Paris Journal of International Arbitration, the South African Law Journal and the Stellenbosch Law Review. Michelle is an external examiner for WITS university and regularly guest lectures in her field.
