Career

Andres Crump joined Baker McKenzie in 2018 as a partner for the M&A and private equity practices. Previously, he had served as a Senior Vice President at the prestigious Brookfield Asset Management, where he was responsible for the transaction execution and M&A activities in various businesses in the infrastructure and energy sectors in Latin America.

Over the past 20 years, he has played key roles in activities related to equity investments exceeding USD 18 billion in all kind of assets including most notably in infrastructure and power generation assets in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. This includes private deals, government privatizations and all types of open market transactions, such as share acquisitions and public offerings.

Andres worked for more than 10 years at Brookfield, two of which he spent in Sao Paulo, overseeing the development of various initiatives related to capital deployment and asset management activities.

In addition, he has participated as a member of the Board of Directors of Sociedad Concesionaria Vespucio Norte, Isagen S.A., Grupo Carvajal S.A. and Empresa de Energía de Boyacá S.A.

Andres holds an LLM from Columbia University (New York) and a Master’s degree in Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá).

A former Senior Vice President at Brookfield Asset Management, Andrés Crump fronts the M&A and private equity groups and is particularly noted for his experience in the infrastructure and power spheres. Among his recent transactions, the ‘cool and calm’ Crump advised Akzo Nobel on the acquisition of Grupo Orbis, which involved co-ordinating the acquisition of over 20 companies across the Latin American region. Clare Montgomery spearheads the companies, restructuring and investment unit and recently advised a multinational tobacco company on the implementation of a merger between two Colombian subsidiaries.
