Career

Francisco Pinheiro Guimarães is the senior partner of the firm and has been actively involved in project finance, structured finance, syndicated lending and corporate finance. For example, during the 1970s and 1980s, Francisco Pinheiro Guimarães has actively acted as counsel for bank syndicates in connection with project finance for Itaipú Binacional, Samarco, Angra I, II and III, syndicated loans to Light Serviços de Eletricidade, State of Minas Gerais, Eletrobrás, Nuclebrás, Petrobrás and Companhia do Vale do Rio Doce, among others. Also, during the 1980’s and 1990’s Francisco has acted as Brazilian counsel to the international banks in connection with the several restructuring and renegotiation of the Brazilian sovereign debt which resulted in the issue of the Brazilian Brady Bonds in 1992.
