Career

Amit Parekh provides strategic counsel to public and private companies, private equity and venture capital funds, and family offices on business decisions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and general corporate matters. Drawing on almost two decades of legal experience, Amit brings a tailored, client-centric approach to his counsel. His innate ability to adopt his client’s mindset – understanding their unique objectives, pain points and values – makes him a seamless business partner.

Amit regularly represents companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 corporations operating in a variety of industries, including technology, data analytics, financial services, healthcare, biopharmaceuticals, supplements, retail, restaurants, media and packaging. His clients trust him to make cost-benefit decisions with maximum efficiency.

Amit has a particular focus on strategic transactions, often involving cross-border matters.  He enjoys being an extension of the client’s business team and tailoring a transaction to the specific business needs.

Amit has worked in-house during secondments at the corporate headquarters of two then-Fortune 1000 companies. In these positions, he collaborated with senior in-house counsel on numerous cross-border transactions in Asia-Pacific, Russia and Mexico, as well as joint ventures, franchise licenses and securities matters. His experience also encompasses serving as “outside general counsel” to several companies, ranging from technology start-ups in Silicon Valley to charity:water, a nonprofit bringing clean drinking water to developing nations.

Amit is also a member of the Firm’s Partnership Promotion Committee and was previously the co-leader of the Firm’s diversity affinity group and a member of the Firm’s global diversity board.  Amit also previously taught future business leaders in the University of California-Irvine’s International Business Law program, including courses in Effective Deal Making and Foreign Direct Investments.

The bottom line – Amit makes it his business to understand his client’s business so he can provide strategic, cost-effective and tailored legal and business advice.
