Career

James Pryde practices in the Energy and National Resources Group and Private Equity Group, with particular emphasis on mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance and is the Co-Head of the firm's Renewables and Sustainable Energy Industry Sector. Mr. Pryde has significant experience as lead counsel in acquiring, financing and developing energy resources and infrastructure, representing private equity funds in acquisitions in a variety of industries and in representing agribusinesses in general matters.

His energy and infrastructure experience includes all aspects of development, acquisition, finance and sale of energy generation and transmission, including wind; solar; hydro; storage; biomass; waste-to-energy; coal and natural gas pipleine distribution and transmission. Mr. Pryde has also been involved with multiple power purchase agreements.

Mr. Pryde’s private equity practice involves all phases of representation of private equity funds, including fund formation and acquisition, representation and disposition of portfolio companies. In addition to energy and infrastructure, Mr. Pryde has represented private equity funds in landfill facilities, waste hauling, rock quarries, pollution control, sound suppression, home construction materials, and pet treats, among other areas.

With Mr. Pryde’s central location in Kansas City and the multiple offices of the firm, Mr. Pryde is able to bring his significant experience to transactions throughout the U.S., all at Midwestern rates. Further, Mr. Pryde has been praised by clients for his “solution oriented” method of representation and for his ability to get complex and difficult transactions completed on a timely basis and within budget.

CLIENT STORY

James advised American Electric Power (AEP), one of the USA’s largest electricity producers, on the acquisition of a significant portfolio of operating wind farms and development projects spanning seven states. BCLP’s solution helped AEP get this $1.05 billion deal over the line and take a major step towards achieving its renewables goal.
