Career
Robert Tuchman is counsel in the firm’s Environmental group. With more than 30 years of experience in environmental law, he represents clients in administrative, judicial, toxic tort, property damage, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and Endangered Species Act (ESA) matters. These representations have included defending litigation filed in United States District Courts alleging that Federal agency approval of clients’ mining and other projects violated NEPA, the ESA, the Federal Land Policy and Management Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, and other Federal laws. He also has defended appeals filed with the United States Department of the Interior, Interior Board of Land Appeals alleging that Federal agency approval of clients’ mining projects violated NEPA and other Federal law. Mr. Tuchman has argued cases in the Ninth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeal. He has counseled both industry and government clients in the review, critique, and preparation of NEPA documents covering natural resource and other projects. Mr. Tuchman has made numerous presentations on NEPA. For 17 years, he has served as an instructor for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy in its Rocky Mountain Depositions Program. From 2000 through 2011, Mr. Tuchman served as Assistant General Counsel for Holme Roberts & Owen LLP.
