Career

Randy leads the Mass Tort & Product Liability Team and has over two decades of experience handling the defense of complex, high stakes, personal injury and wrongful death claims. His litigation and trial practice focuses on complex contested matters in the areas of product liability, toxic tort, class actions. Randy has first chair trial experience with personal injury and wrongful death cases as well as mass tort actions, multi-district litigation, and the representation of corporate clients defending against high stakes claims alleging serious personal injury or death in courts throughout the country.

Randy has represented national pharmaceutical clients in mass tort defense including the coordination and management of hundreds of lawsuits. He has handled numerous fire and explosion matters, both lawsuits and pre-suit claims, and has developed a successful track record of getting these matters disposed of promptly and favorably for his clients. He has also represented clients from the aviation industry in lawsuits alleging personal injury or wrongful death claims involving aircrafts. Randy also has experience representing clients from the elevator and firearms industries in the defense of personal injury or wrongful death claims. These lawsuits almost always include complex, scientific defenses addressing both general and specific causation issues and include working with nationally recognized scientists and medical professionals. Randy has a keen ability to design arguments supported by complex, highly technical science and is especially adept at making these complex issues understandable to the judge and jury – a critical skill for any trial lawyer.

Randy’s intellectual property litigation experience focuses primarily on high stakes patent litigation. He also has experience with toxic tort cases and claims related to environmental contamination. His experience encompasses all aspects of the litigation process, including case strategy and management, pre-trial motion practice, depositions, hearings, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. Randy has trial experience in state and federal courts throughout the country.

Randy founded and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Joshua Chamberlain Society (“JCS”). JCS is a federally tax exempt 501(c)(3) charity that provides permanent support to severely injured or killed combat veterans from the greater St. Louis area
