Career

Ethan Fitzpatrick, who has a doctorate in cellular and molecular biology, focuses his practice on intellectual property with an emphasis on patent prosecution. Ethan has substantial experience advising clients and obtaining patents in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries where his work has involved technologies such as antibody therapeutics, small molecule and macromolecule drugs, drug formulations, cancer vaccines, synthetic proteomes, catheter thrombectomy devices, peptide engineering and stem cell therapies.  Ethan also has experience with inter partes review, reexamination and appeal proceedings in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as well as experience in patent litigation in the New Jersey district court.

Prior to joining the firm, Ethan worked as an associate at two New Jersey law firms where his practice involved all aspects of patent prosecution and patent litigation. Ethan also served a one-year appointment as a law clerk in the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, in Morristown, New Jersey.

During law school, Ethan interned at a boutique intellectual property firm assisting with patent prosecution, served as a research assistant to an associate professor of law, and worked as a legal intern for a large biotechnology company. In law school Ethan served as senior editor for the Seton Hall Law Review and had a concentration in intellectual property law.

Prior to attending law school, Ethan earned a bachelor’s in biochemistry and a doctorate in cellular and molecular biology.
