Career

Ingrid Gubbay is a skilled strategic litigator and movement lawyer with 28 years’ of experience, largely driving forward leading climate change and human rights cases, and high level corporate accountability mechanisms at the national, international and EU levels, including at the Conference of the Parties (COP) summits.  

She was recognised by the Financial Times as ‘one of five trailblazing sustainability leaders’ and their Innovative Lawyers Awards 2021 shortlisted Ingrid in the ‘Sustainable Lawyer’ category because of her substantive work on climate change litigation and for championing the role of lawyers can play in tackling global warming. 

She conducts strategic public/private law litigation, both domestically and internationally, on behalf of communities affected by large scale corporate violations, she initiated the first climate UN Convention of the Rights of the Child complaint which was filed before that Committee and was one of the foundation of members of the Global Climate Litigation network, and is currently instructed by global NGO’s with respect to climate challenges, 

She is currently a Visiting Research Fellow at the British Institute for International and Comparative law UK (BIICL), where she is a member of their climate change and environment expert group. She regularly teaches climate change litigation at BIICL and has published a number of articles on climate change developments. 

Ingrid chairs the Board of the global NGO, Legal Action Network (LAW) which works to bring legal accountability for individuals and communities living in fragile conflict zones, and strengthens institutions to deliver justice to them. This work helps her inform legal innovations in the field of Business and Human rights.
