Position

Mr. O'Brien regularly advises leading real estate owners and developers as well as major institutions such as hospitals, non-profits, and cultural institutions in connection with the zoning, land use, and environmental matters for transformative development projects in New York City. He also regularly advises financial institutions in the zoning diligence for large-scale real estate project loans.

Career

Mr. O’Brien was previously general counsel and interim director of the NYC Mayor's Office of Environmental Coordination, and served as assistant counsel to the NYC Department of City Planning. Mr. O'Brien was also previously an adjunct assistant professor at the New York University Wagner School of Public Service, where he taught a class on Land Use Law. He is a frequent lecturer at Cardozo School of Law, Brooklyn Law School, and the American Planning Association's New York Metro Chapter.

Education

Mr. O’Brien received his JD from Brooklyn Law School in 2005 and a LLM in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law in 2010.
