He offers his clients a full range of regulatory, transactional and litigation-related advice in connection with product development; structuring funds and other investment vehicles; establishment of electronic trading facilities and clearing solutions for swaps and derivatives; and compliance, investigations and enforcement matters relating to futures, swaps and derivatives.

Career

Mr. Mitchell joined Fried Frank in 2006 as partner. He was previously a partner at a large international law firm. He joined that firm in 1983 from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Mr. Mitchell is the Director of the Futures Industry Association and serves on the Board of Editors of the Futures & Derivatives Law Report.

Mr. Mitchell is a frequent speaker and author on the topics of derivatives, futures and securities regulation. His writings have appeared in a wide array of well-known publications, such as Futures & Derivatives Law Report, Journal of Investment Compliance, The Review of Securities and Commodities Regulation and The Handbook of Currency and Interest Rate Risk Management.

Mr. Mitchell is a member of both the New York City Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.

Education

Mr. Mitchell received his LLM from New York University School of Law in 1980, and his JD, magna cum laude, from New York Law School in 1979, where he was a member of the Law Review. He received his BA, summa cum laude, from City College of New York in 1976, Phi Beta Kappa.
