Position

Ben is a partner in the Strategic Transactions and Licensing group in our Austin office.

Career

Ben helps clients with all manner of technology and data-driven transactions and related issues. He regularly helps structure, draft, review and negotiate commercial transactions as well as provide technology-focused product counseling on issues such as data privacy, data security and open source software.

In addition to his commercial transactions and product counseling practice, Ben has advised some of the world’s leading venture capital and private equity funds in their investments in technology-driven businesses. He has also helped companies raise money and complete sale transactions with those same funds as well as strategic investors and acquirers.

Ben’s diverse experience includes enterprise software/SaaS, data analytics, electric vehicles, consumer products, medical devices, mobile applications, biotechnology and digital infrastructure. His commercialization practice includes SaaS agreements, joint development agreements, strategic alliances, reseller agreements, distribution agreements and a variety of other in- and out-licensing deals.

Ben has negotiated commercial transactions across from many leading U.S. and international companies, including Amazon, AT&T, Bayer, Boeing, Bridgestone, CBRE, Dana, ExxonMobil, Facebook, Ford Motor Company, Goldman Sachs, Google, Haldor Topsøe, Halliburton, Hilti, IBM, Intel, Mastercard, McDonald’s, McKinsey Consulting, Medtronic, Merck, Microsoft, Mondelez, Morgan Stanley, Oracle, Qiagen, SAP, Visa, and Wal-Mart. He has also negotiated technology transfer arrangements across from leading research universities.
