Position

Mark focuses on representing businesses, their boards and executives in complex criminal, civil, and administrative investigations, government enforcement proceedings, risk assessments, and related litigation, often in highly regulated industries and international contexts.

Mark has substantial experience representing clients in matters related to the False Claims Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, environmental law, securities enforcement, cartel investigations, healthcare, fraud, and trade secret theft.

Career

Prior to joining Kirkland as a partner in 2015, Mark served in senior leadership roles during more than ten years as a federal prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago, including as Chief of Appeals and a supervisor of the financial crimes and healthcare fraud programs. He has substantial international experience, including serving at U.S. Embassy Baghdad and handling sensitive national security matters in Washington and elsewhere. He has also taught at the University of Chicago Law School, served on the staff of the late U.S. Senator Richard G. Lugar, and worked as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group, Inc.
