Career

Angela has almost 20 years of experience, 11 of which have been specifically devoted to the mining and environmental practice.

She has been involved in the financing construction processes of the three most modern gold mines in the country, she has also actively participated in prior consultation and negotiation processes with communities, has integrated the team responsible for the negotiation and drafting of collaboration contracts joint venture, purchase and sale contracts, easement agreements, operation agreements and all types of contracts required for the operation of a mining company in Colombia.

Ángela has also prepared the required documents from Colombian Councils for listing processes on the TSX, TSXV and ASX, and she provides legal support in the day-to-day mining activities, which implies the strategies to appropriately defend client’s positions before the competent authorities.

Her experience in environmental procedures includes advising mining companies in processes of subtraction of forest reserve areas and defending companies from different sectors of the economy against administrative investigations by the environmental authorities.

Angela Maria has been recognized several times by Chambers & Partners as a Star Associate and an Associate to Watch in the Natural Resources – Mining area.

Education

She has a Law degree (J.D. Equivalent) from Universidad del Rosario, two postgraduate degrees in Environmental Law at Universidad del Rosario, and in Communitarian Law at Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas.
