Position

Boris Uphoff is a partner and member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, where his practice focuses on litigation and dispute resolution. He has litigation experience in all major German courts and assists clients in cross-border disputes. Boris represents German and international clients in patent infringement litigation and in contentious matters relating to trade marks and unfair competition law. His practice also encompasses product liability and insurance law. He acts for international insurers, industrial clients and trading companies, representing them in disputes relating to product defects and consumer claims. He advises clients, particularly from the automotive and electronics sectors, on product recalls and recourse actions against suppliers of defective parts. He is active in the area of cartel damages, successfully defending clients against cartel damages claims brought by competitors and commercial customers. In relation to dispute resolution, Boris frequently represents clients in international arbitrations. He also acts as arbitrator in large commercial disputes.

Career

Boris served his traineeship at the Regional Court of Wiesbaden, Germany, and at a major London IP law firm. Prior to joining the Firm he practiced at two leading international law firms. His litigation work encompasses cross border disputes with parallel actions pending in Germany, in the US and in the UK. In addition, he practices insurance law with a focus on product liability disputes and cash-in-transit losses. Boris is admitted to practice before all District Courts and Courts of Appeal in Germany.
