José is a partner in D'Empaire since 2018. Before joining D’Empaire in 2012, José worked as an associate at Deloitte from 2008 to 2012.

He advises major corporations on a broad range of tax matters. He also counsels Venezuelan families and individuals on tax and estate planning matters. Recent representations include:

Maurel & Prom in its purchase of a 40 percent equity participation in Petroregional del Lago from Shell Pirelli in the sale of its Venezuelan subsidiary Liberty Mutual in its sale of Seguros Caracas, Venezuela’s largest insurance company American Airlines in several Venezuelan tax matters

He is also the Venezuelan representative of the Young IFA Network (YIN) of the International Fiscal Association’s Venezuelan Branch.

José received a J.D. from Universidad Metropolitana in 2007 and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in 2014.
