Position

Martín Chocano specializes in international and domestic arbitration, as well as in commercial, civil, constitutional, and administrative-contentious litigation.

Career

He received a Law Degree with high honors from Universidad de Lima (2010) and a Master’s Degree (LL.M) in International Business Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration (IBRLA) from New York University Law School (2016).

Martín has experience in international investment arbitrations under the auspices of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and conducted under the UNICTRAL Arbitration Rules. He regularly represents clients on international and domestic arbitrations under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce and before the main arbitral institutions in Peru, related to civil, commercial, post M&A, construction, infrastructure, and regulatory disputes.

He had litigated at all levels of the Judiciary, including the Supreme Court and, also, before the Constitutional Tribunal.

Martin is listed in the Lima Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Center’s roster of national arbitrators. Who’s Who Legal recognized him as a “Future Leader – Arbitration” (2024) and was awarded Lexology’s “Client Choice Award” for Arbitration in Peru (2024). He is a member of the Young Singapore International Arbitration Centre (YSIAC) Council (2023-2025).

He was an International Visiting Advisor at Dechert LLP’s international arbitration practice (Washington D.C). He has been assistant professor of Procedural Law at Universidad de Lima.
