Career

André is a partner in the Labor area. He specializes in Labor, Constitutional and Social Security Procedural Law.

He has a solid track record in the design and optimization of hiring schemes, remuneration planning, work schedule systems, individual staff termination processes, collective dismissals and labor inspections, as well as in compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. In addition, he has extensive experience in due diligence, advising on its implementation and conducting investigations focused on human rights.

In the academic field, he is a professor in the master’s degrees in Labor Law and Social Security and in the master’s degree in Labor Relations at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He also teaches the course on Special Labor Law at the Faculty of Law of the same university. He has written several specialized articles and is author of “El Derecho a la Intimidad en la Vigilancia de la Salud de los Trabajadores” (The Right to Privacy in the Workers’ Health Surveillance). He regularly participates as a speaker at multiple seminars, conferences and other academic events.

With offices in Cajamarca, Lima and Trujillo, Rubio Leguía Normand‘s labour, employment, and social security team is well-positioned to advise a broad client base on a comprehensive range of labour and employment issues. These include collective bargaining agreements (and negotiation), litigation related to outsourcing, hirings and terminations, personnel reinstatement, and workers’ compensation for accidents. Veteran practitioner Víctor Ferro brings extensive expertise in representing companies in collective bargaining and various other complex labour matters (including compensation plans, immigration and social security issues). He co-leads the department in conjunction with Armando Gutiérrez, who specialises in labour planning, compliance audits, and personnel hiring and dismissals; and Sandro Núñez, whose practice focuses on defending both public and private entities in administrative and judicial claims. Providing sophisticated support, an experienced team of principal associates includes Angel Ramírez (constitutional and procedural labour law, social security and immigration); André Cossio, who specialises in occupational health and safety regulations; and – promoted as of February 2024 – Marilú Merzthal, who handles complex contentious labour matters.
