Experienced advocate in international commercial/investment disputes, including international arbitration before ICSID, ICC, ICDR, SIAC, HKIAC, LCIA, JAMS, and UNCITRAL in major arbitral seats (NY, London, Singapore, The Hague, Paris, Washington, HK). As lead counsel, handles disputes across sectors: (oil/gas, renewable/solar/nuclear), banking, M&A, telecommunications/satellites, aviation, infrastructure and engineering, hotel/hospitality, pharmaceutical, retail and sports/motor racing. Commercial arbitration experience covers wide areas of legal issues (contract, fraud, corporate governance, trust and fiduciary issues), and disputes arising under the 1980 Vienna Convention on the Sale of Goods. Admitted to practice in New York and England; handles numerous public international law disputes, including representing arbitration clients in Bilateral Investment Treaty and multilateral treaty (ECT, ASEAN) cases before ICSID and UNCITRAL tribunals involving expropriation and unfair investor treatment by sovereigns. Frequently handles U.S. litigation involving large cross-border commercial disputes and sovereign/diplomatic immunity, Helms-Burton, Alien Tort Claims Act/TVPA, "Section 1782" discovery, Federal Arbitration Act, judicial assistance (Hague Evidence Convention; Hague Service Convention), international judgment and arbitral award enforcement. Co-editor/co-author, Take the Witness: Cross-Examination in International Arbitration, frequent commentator on award enforcement, treaty law, quantum issues.
