Cathryn Vanderspar
Work Department
Cathryn is Head of Tax in our London Office, with over 25 years of experience as a tax lawyer.
Cathryn’s main areas of practice are real estate and funds taxation, including advisory work and product development.
Cathryn advises on the structuring of direct and indirect real estate transactions, including joint ventures, corporate real estate and REITs. Her advice covers SDLT, VAT and capital allowances and aspects specific to certain sectors such as residential, student accommodation, hotels and healthcare.
Her funds experience includes both unauthorised and authorised funds, both listed and unlisted across the asset classes, including real estate, debt and private equity funds for a wide variety of investors and managers.
Cathryn is an active member of key industry committees and HMRC and HMT working groups on new developments.
She is the author of the Tax chapter on REITs in Tolleys Taxation of Collective Investment.
