Elizabeth Coleman

Elizabeth is a competition law partner with significant contentious experience, both in complex competition litigation and in defending competition investigations. Elizabeth acts on collective and private competition law damages actions, including before the Competition Appeal Tribunal, High Court and Supreme Court, as well as numerous cartel and dominance competition law investigations, including those brought by the CMA, Ofcom, Ofgem, FCA, European Commission and various National Competition Authorities across Europe. Elizabeth also advises on strategic competition law mandates including for example by advising on re-designing distribution systems and restrictions in commercial agreements. Elizabeth’s recent experience includes: acting for the Department for Transport in respect of intervention applications in 4 major collective damages actions in the Competition Appeal Tribunal (Gutmann and Boyle) providing strategic advice to a global technology company facing a competition law infringement decision, including advice in respect of a potential appeal and follow on damages actions advising an international airport on defending allegations of abuse of dominance, including advising on its strategy for responding to the allegations and engaging with the complainant’s advisers on the client’s behalf, as well as working with the client more broadly to help identify and assess relevant competition law risk across the business and put in place relevant risk mitigation measures, including by feeding into relevant commercial decisions Elizabeth is nominated for Law.com’s 40 under 40, was shortlisted for the rising star category in the women@competition awards, and was the competition lead on the Agents Mutual litigation before the High Court, CAT and Supreme Court which won the team Competition Team of the Year at the Legal Business Awards Winners of the Global Competition Review award for behavioural matter of the year (Europe). This was for the creative, strategic and innovative work carried out in a non-merger matter before an enforcer in Europe.
