Ms Catrine Søndergaard Byrne

Position
Catrine is an associate with Eversheds Copenhagen and heads up the Employment and Data Law team. She is a skilled adviser and deals with a whole range of issues relating to employment law, e.g. individual and collective employment conditions, collective bargaining agreements, outsourcing, bonus and incentive schemes as well as work related to transactions, including due diligence work. Catrine has vast experience in advising all types of companies in connection with employment law issues and disputes of every kind. Catrine also has experience in advising companies in connection with employees enjoying special statutory protection, and all aspects of restrictive covenant clauses. In addition, she advises on and has a wide range of experience in data law and data protection challenges. This includes transfer of data, whistleblower hotlines, ethical policies and other data protection related issues. She advises Danish as well as international clients, and on a regular basis Catrine gives courses on various data, labour and employment law issues. Catrine is the Danish contributor to “EU and International Employment Law”. She is also appointed mentor with the annual Employment law Trial Game under the University of Copenhagen.
Career
Catrine trained during 2000-2005 partly at the Confederation of Danish Industries and at the Danish Association of Managers and Executives. As of 2007, she worked as senior lawyer with the tier ranked Danish law firm Accura, until she joined Eversheds, heading the Employment and Data law team in January 2011.

Besides being a member of the Danish Bar and Law Society (Det Danske Advokatsamfund), Catrine is a member of the Danish Association for Employment Law (Dansk Forening for Arbejdsret), the Danish Employment Lawyers Association (Danske Ansættelsesadvokater) and EELA (European Employment Lawyers Association).
Education
Law degree, University of Copenhagen, 1999. Admitted to the Danish Bar, 2005 Graduate Diploma Advocate at the Danish Bar Association, 2006.
