Jonas specializes in Swedish and international litigation and arbitration (including challenge proceedings), regulatory issues in the financial sector and international commercial law with a particular focus on East-West and Latin American trade. He has participated in many commercial court cases before Swedish Courts, especially relating to actions seeking to challenge or nullify arbitral awards, often relating to awards in investor treaty arbitrations and other east-west arbitrations, and enforcement actions against states raising objections of state immunity. He has participated in many national and international arbitration cases as secretary to the tribunal, counsel or arbitrator, with a particular focus on east-west trade.
Sample of representative experience:
- Acting for a US controlled company providing oil field services in arbitration with a Russian oil company and its oil producing subsidiary, and in subsequent challenge proceedings brought by the Russian oil company and its subsidiary.
- Acting for a US controlled oil Extraction Company in arbitration under a Production Sharing Contract with an oil company in one of the former Soviet Republics, and in subsequent challenge proceedings brought by the opponent.
- Acting for a US oil equipment and services company in arbitration with a Russian subcontractor.
- Acting for Franz J. Sedelmayer in challenge proceedings brought by the Russian Federation against an arbitral award rendered under the German Soviet bilateral investment treaty.
- Acting for Franz J. Sedelmayer in various enforcement proceedings against the Russian Federation.
- Acting for a foreign State in challenge proceedings against an arbitral award rendered under a bilateral investment treaty initiated by an English national.
- Acting for a US company in the automotive industry in arbitration against a Swedish company in the same industry.
- Acting for a German company in the automotive industry in mediation with a Swedish company in the same industry.
- Acting for a Swedish company in the telecoms industry against a multinational company regarding outsourcing.
- Acting for a multinational company in the energy sector in arbitration with a German company.
