Career
Duncan is a Legal Director specialising in financial services disputes and contentious regulatory issues.
Duncan has a particular interest in the development of cybersecurity regulations in Hong Kong and elsewhere in Asia, from both a contentious regulatory and a compliance perspective. He is an active member of Eversheds Sutherland's global Cybersecurity and Data Privacy team and regularly publishes articles and speaks at external events on these issues.
He has recently acted for a global insurer designing and implementing its cybersecurity response policy and procedures across its Asian footprint. He has also been recently engaged by a global bank to assist it responding to sensitive allegations of an insider data leak that were published on internet forums, including engagement with the bank's Hong Kong regulators.
More generally, Duncan regularly acts on behalf of both international banks and senior employees in relation to a range of regulatory inquiries and investigations, including matters related to alleged manipulation of benchmark indices, mis-selling of regulated products and market manipulation. Most recently, this work has included advising clients in relation to regulatory investigations connected to market manipulation and investment product suitability as well as assisting a client respond to an ICAC dawn raid.
Duncan is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, England & Wales and Ireland.
