Work Department

Ross is a legal director in our Litigation group and is a construction law specialist, advising clients on the selection, preparation and negotiation of contract documentation for construction and engineering projects in the UK and abroad. Ross has acted as lead legal adviser on the construction and engineering elements of over 45 projects procured under PFI/PPP and DBFO schemes (with an aggregate capital value of over £2 billion). In addition, he provides non-contentious construction advice in support of project finance, real estate, banking and corporate transactions.

Ross has a particular interest in renewable energy projects (wind, tidal, biomass and energy-from-waste) and process engineering schemes (waste and wastewater treatment), in respect of which Ross has acted for a variety of local authorities, developers, funders and contractors.

Ross recently acted for the developer of the first project financed wind farm in the UK to use the new Siemens 3MW direct-drive wind turbine and worked alongside an international bank (and its partners) on the development of a project financing product for smaller-scale UK renewable energy projects (between 500kWh and 5MW capacity) which are eligible to receive income under the UK Government's Feed-in Tariff or Renewables Obligation regimes.

Chambers & Partners includes the following quote in relation to Ross: "Meticulous and extremely diligent, he digs out all the important elements of a project and makes sure we know the risks".

Ross is a member of the Society of Construction Law and has presented to conferences and in-house legal & commercial teams on developments in law and practice in construction.
