Helen is a Senior Associate in our Cardiff Commercial Dispute Resolution team. She is an experienced commercial litigator who often leads on high value and complex disputes, including for Network Rail and Close Brothers Limited. She has also worked on a number of high profile procurement challenges including:- the 2019 Rail Franchising Litigation, where she acted as the deputy to the lead partner for two of the four claims brought by Arriva and Stagecoach against the decision of the Secretary of State for Transport to disqualify those bidders from the rail franchise competitions - a claim brought against Gloucestershire County Council challenging the legality of its Residual Waste Treatment Facility contract, the largest contract ever let by the Council.- acted for UK Biocentre in defending a challenge to the appointment of an automated diagnostics software provider to support the Government’s Covid-19 testing programme at the 4 national Lighthouse Laboratories. Helen also has a particular focus on the education sector, regularly advising and representing schools, further education colleges and universities in relation to student and reputational matters, including OIA referrals, contractual and other commercial disputes, judicial review proceedings, procurement, governance and regulatory issues.
