Emma is an Associate in our Litigation and Dispute Management Group and sits within the Commercial Dispute Resolution team. Emma undertakes a wide range of work from general commercial litigation to education and public sector matters. Emma has also been engaged on a number of inquiries/investigations since qualification.

Emma attained a First Class Honours Degree in Law and joined Eversheds in September 2010.

Between November 2012 – January 2014, Emma was engaged in a large-scale investigation initiated by an industry regulator. Emma’s role involved interviewing witnesses to obtain factual evidence and establish what had occurred during a large series of, often complex, transactions. Emma was then responsible for reviewing associated documents and compiling factual reports.

Emma has more recently been engaged on a sensitive and high-profile public inquiry concerning historical abuse. Emma has been involved in many aspects of the inquiry from project management and engaging expert witnesses, to conducting witness interviews using inquisitorial investigative techniques and reviewing/redacting associated documentation. Emma’s main focus during the inquiry has been conducting interviews with vulnerable witnesses alleging historical abuse.

Where Emma has not been engaged on investigations/public inquiries, her main areas of work have included: Advising clients on the grounds for challenging public body/regulator decisions, including claims in judicial review; Advising clients on breach of contract issues and procurement challenges; advising on defamation; assisting clients in the education sector with various matters including breach of contract claims, the academy conversion process and data protection; and, assisting with an investigation by a health sector client to determine whether a matter should be referred to a Fitness to Practise Panel.

Emma is a member of the Committee of the Wales Commercial Law Association.
